Acquiring Operation

Except for payment card transaction settlement services for merchants, the acquiring operations also include relevant operations required for providing such services, including but not limited to merchant recruitment, merchant credit evaluation as well as card acceptance equipment installment. When cardholders make card consumptions at NCCC merchants, NCCC acquires the sales receipts with transaction details from the merchants, makes payment to merchants after deducting handling charges, and processes subsequent payments with each corresponding card-issuing bank.

《Business Scope》
NCCC’s acquiring operations include Visa, Mastercard, JCB, DFS (Discover/Diners), UnionPay, and Taiwan Pay (formerly Smart Pay). NCCC also accepts acquiring service outsourcing from American Express International (Taiwan), Inc. to conduct certain acquiring operation services for American Express Card.

《Operating Results》
As of December 2025, the number of NCCC merchants (including the number of installment payment merchants) was 95,499 in total, representing an increase of 0.56% as compared to the same period last year (December 2024).

(I) NCCC Merchant Categories and Percentage
There are 14,684 food merchants, 7,354 clothing merchants, 20,720 lodging merchants,12,038 transportation merchants, 6,254 education and medication merchants, 2,274 leisure and entertainment merchants, 16,263 department store merchants, and 15,921 other merchants. The percentage of each merchant category is shown in the figure below:

(II) Distribution of NCCC Merchants
1. There are 16,343 merchants in Taipei City, 12,493 merchants in New Taipei City, 8,539 merchants in Taoyuan City, 13,117 merchants in Taichung City, 7,798 merchants in Tainan City ,and 11,114 merchants in Kaohsiung City.

2. There are 6,749 merchants in the northern region (Keelung, Yilan, Hsinchu, Kinmen, and Mazu),8,228 merchants in the central region (Miaoli, Nantou, Changhua, and Yunlin), 6,806 merchants in the southern region (Chiayi, Pingtung, and Penghu), and 4,312 merchants in the eastern region (Hualien and Taitung).

(III) Point of Sale Terminals
As of December 2025, the number of NCCC’s point of sale terminals (including self-purchased terminals, virtual terminals of NCCC and merchants, mPOS, and SoftPOS) was 132,389,representing an increase of approximately 5.30% as compared to the same period last year (December 2024).
