Acquiring Operation

Except for payment card transaction settlement services for merchants, the acquiring operations also include relevant operations required for providing such services, including but not limited to merchant recruitment, merchant credit evaluation, as well as card acceptance equipment installment.
When cardholders make card consumption at NCCC merchants, NCCC acquires the sales receipts with transaction details from the merchants, makes payment to merchants after deducting handling charges, and processes subsequent payment with each corresponding card issuing bank.

《Business Scope》
NCCC’s acquiring operations include Visa, Mastercard, JCB, DFS (Discover/Diners), UnionPay, and Taiwan Pay (formerly Smart Pay). NCCC also accepts acquiring service outsourcing from American Express International (Taiwan), Inc. to conduct certain acquiring operation services for American Express Card.

《Operating Results》
As of December 2024, the number of NCCC merchants (including the number of installment payment merchants) was 94,965 in total,representing an increase of approximately 0.66% as compared to the same period last year (December 2023).

(I) NCCC Merchant Categories and Percentage
There are 13,392 food merchants, 7,811 clothing merchants, 21,523 lodging merchants, 11,514 transportation merchants, 6,240 education and medication merchants, 2,423 leisure and entertainment merchants, 15,563 department store merchants, and 16,499 other merchants. The percentage of each merchant category is shown in the figure below:

(II) Distribution of NCCC Merchants
1. There are 16,542 merchants in Taipei City, 12,145 merchants in New Taipei City, 8,215 merchants in Taoyuan City, 12,844 merchants in Taichung City, 7,683 merchants in Tainan City, and 11,027 merchants in Kaohsiung City.

2. There are 6,628 merchants in the Northern Region (Keelung, Yilan, Hsinchu, Kinmen, and Mazu), 8,126 merchants in the Central Region (Miaoli, Nantou, Changhua, and Yunlin), 7,003 merchants in the Southern Region (Chiayi, Pingtung, and Penghu), and 4,752 merchants in the Eastern Region (Hualien and Taitung).

(III) Point of Sale Terminals
As of December 2024 the number of NCCC's point of sale terminals (including self-purchased terminals and virtual terminals of NCCC and merchants, mPOS, and SoftPOS) was 125,725, representing an increase of approximately 3.29% as compared to the same period last year (December 2023); as shown in the figure below:
