Acquiring Operation

Except for payment card transaction settlement services for merchants, the acquiring operations also include relevant operations required for providing such services, including but not limited to merchant recruitment, merchant credit evaluation, as well as card acceptance equipment installment.
When cardholders make card consumption at NCCC merchants, NCCC acquires the sales receipts with transaction details from the merchants, makes payment to merchants after deducting handling charges, and processes subsequent payment with each corresponding card issuing bank.

《Business Scope》
NCCC’s acquiring operations include Visa, Mastercard, JCB, DFS (Discover/Diners), UnionPay, and Taiwan Pay (formerly Smart Pay). NCCC also accepts acquiring service outsourcing from American Express International (Taiwan), Inc. to conduct certain acquiring operation services for American Express Card.

《Operating Results》
As of December 2023, the number of NCCC merchants (including the number of installment payment merchants) was 94,345 in total,representing a decrease of approximately 1.01% as compared to the same period last year (December 2022).

(I) NCCC Merchant Categories and Percentage
There are 11,875 food merchants, 8,254 clothing merchants, 21,936 lodging merchants, 11,301 transportation merchants, 6,140 education and medication merchants, 2,536 leisure and entertainment merchants, 15,510 department store merchants, and 16,793 other merchants. The percentage of each merchant category is shown in the figure below:

(II) Distribution of NCCC Merchants
1. There are 16,583 merchants in Taipei City, 12,138 merchants in New Taipei City, 8,172 merchants in Taoyuan City, 12,716 merchants in Taichung City, 7,574 merchants in Tainan City, and 11,023 merchants in Kaohsiung City.

2. There are 6,585 merchants in the Northern Region (Keelung, Yilan, Hsinchu, Kinmen, and Mazu), 8,068 merchants in the Central Region (Miaoli, Nantou, Changhua, and Yunlin), 6,819 merchants in the Southern Region (Chiayi, Pingtung, and Penghu), and 4,712 merchants in the Eastern Region (Hualien and Taitung).

(III) Point of Sale Terminals
As of December 2023, the number of NCCC's point of sale terminals (including self-purchased terminals and virtual terminals of NCCC and merchants) was 121,722, representing an increase of approximately 1.05% as compared to the same period last year (December 2022); as shown in the figure below:
